Hematology, also well known as “haematology” is the branch of medicine which is concerned with the study, diagnosis, therapy, prevention and also the extent of disease control related to blood. Hematology also includes the study of aetiology. It involves the treatment of diseases which usually affect the production of blood and its components which includes blood cells (RBC, WBC, etc…), hemoglobin, blood proteins, bone marrow, platelets, blood vessels, spleen and also the mechanism of coagulation.
