Track 4: Hematologic Oncology and Blood Cancers

#Hematologic_oncology is the branch of #medicine which is concerned with the #study, #diagnosis, #therapy, #prevention and also the extent of #disease_control related to #blood. #Haematology involves the study of #aetiology. It involves the #treatment of diseases which usually affect the production of #blood and its #components which includes #blood_cells (#RBC, #WBC, etc…), #hemoglobin, #blood_proteins, #bone_marrow, #platelets, #blood_vessels, #spleen and also the #mechanism of #coagulation. The kinds of #diseases or #disorders of #blood include #hemophilia, #blood_clots, #thalassemia, other #bleeding_disorders and #blood_cancers such as #leukaemia, #myeloma and #lymphoma.  #Blood_cancers affect the production of most of the #blood_cells in the #body. These types of #cancers start in #patient’s #bone_marrow where the #blood is produced. #Stem_cells mature and develop into three types of #blood_cells which are #White_blood_cells, #red_blood_cells and #platelets which are the smallest type of #blood_cells present in the #bone_marrow. The normal #growth of the  #blood_cell is stopped by the uncontrolled growth of #abnormal_blood_cells, which are generally #cancerous.
